Sparkler in Hand

Great Beginnings Support

This three-month program will help take you from the spark of an idea to

the confidence, courage, and craft to ignite your story.

How it works:

We'll begin with a free, no-pressure, 30-minute discovery call on Zoom to discuss what you’re looking for and to make sure we’re a good fit.

Every two weeks, you'll submit up to 1,500 words for feedback* and discussion. I'll provide written feedback within a week.

Every other week, we’ll meet via Zoom for a 60-minute meeting. During these sessions, we’ll discuss what you submitted— what made it to the page and how the process of writing felt. We’ll look at what’s getting in your way, what’s exciting you on the page, and where your fear lies. We’ll troubleshoot challenges together.

Our calls will also be a time to talk about planning a writing project and practical ways to integrate writing into your life. You’ll come away from each session with a clear direction forward for the upcoming weeks and personalized strategies for working effectively and enjoyably.

Great Beginnings Support is for writers at all experience levels,

and is great for folks who are new to creative writing (either fiction or nonfiction).

What you’ll get:

  • A safe space to explore your ideas and writing process

  • Tools and suggestions regarding writing craft and creating a writing life

  • Useful feedback that improves your craft, process, and confidence

This is a good fit for you if:

  • You’d like a creative ally who brings a fresh perspective and a constructive, trauma-informed approach

  • You have a writing project in mind

  • You have time to commit to writing

This might not be for you if:

  • You're already well into your writing project. You might be interested in Work-in-Progress support.

  • You’ve finished a manuscript and are looking for a review.

*A note about feedback:

Many writers have had the experience of receiving harsh feedback on their work. Feedback that makes you want to turn away from your creativity isn’t useful. Good feedback requires care, thoughfulness, and trust. The best feedback energizes and makes you want to keep writing.

I want to provide a safe, nurturing space for writers to explore new work. So, when writers are finding their footing in Great Beginnings Support, my focus is on positive, constructive feedback. I’ll note what’s working. I’ll ask lots of questions. And I’ll encourage you to reflect on things, too. What felt satisfying to write? What feels messy? How did writing make you feel this week? Is something keeping you from writing what you really mean to say?

You’ll be challenged to think about how you can improve your writing and meet your goals, but in a way that doesn’t dim your love of writing.

This program includes three months of support for $1425,

which can be broken up into three monthly payments of $475.
