Draft Deep Dive
You’ve completed a draft manuscript - hurrah!
But you’re not sure what comes next? A Draft Deep Dive can help.

Finishing a draft manuscript is a huge accomplishment...but now you face revisions and edits. Maybe you struggled with parts of draft and wonder how to make them stronger. You know there's a lot of work ahead, but it feels overwhelming to tackle it all at once.

Draft Deep Dive is an alternative to a formal manuscript review. It's a four-week collaborative examination of parts of your story that you think need a closer look.

Depending on the needs you identify, we’ll dive into your characters, structure, voice, dramatic tension, gaps, and more. We’ll also look at where you might have been holding back in your draft, why, and how you can write toward the truth as you begin revising.

How it Works:

  • Hiring someone to review your words is an act of trust. We'll begin with a free, 20-minute Zoom call to discuss what you’re looking for and to make sure we’re a good fit. If we’re not both certain I can help you, I may know of someone who can.

  • You'll share a one-page synopsis of your manuscript and the first 20 pages, to help me understand the big picture and your style.

  • During the month we work together, you’ll share up to 10,000 words in total. You can send it all at once, or a section each week. We’ll come up with the best approach during our intro call.

  • Each week, we’ll have a Zoom call (up to 60 minutes) to discuss your writing.

This is a good fit for you if:

  • You’ve finished a first draft of a novel or memoir

  • You'd like some help, but don't feel ready to hand your entire manuscript over to someone to critique

  • You’re ready and willing to make changes to your draft

  • You’re looking for someone to bounce ideas off, who will ask insightful questions, offer suggestions, and help you find your own answers

This might not be for you if:

  • You haven’t completed a full draft. If you’re still in the process of writing, you may be interested in Work-in-Progress Support

  • You want a critique of your entire draft

  • You want someone to look at grammar and provide line edits
